Gift of Three

gift of three
close up
This week's Creative Tuesdays' theme is 'Gifting.' This piece is based on an older drawing which I have always wanted to redo. I was going to go with a square box, a round box and a triangle box but when I went to color it, I decided to make the round one a snow globe and then I thought maybe something else besides another box and it ends up being a candy jar. Those are soft candies that is coated with sugar, I don't know the exact name but I've always like them. So there you go, a gift of three. And no, I don't know why their hair is entwined like that but I like it.

    1. really? you remember this? it seems such a long time ago. I like this redo more but I didn't changed much except for the hands as they were not holding anything before.

thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day.

  7. The entwined hair makes me think of the word 'sisterhood'. I love the snowglobe gift the best, it feels so romantic and fits with the girls! I like how the dresses blend in with the background!

    1. the snowglobe is also my favorite, honestly, I was thinking of something similiar for the third gift - something that sparkles and only comes with the candy but it doesn't look bad.

thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day.

  8. Hi Lissa, you never disappoint me when I view your art. It's beautiful. The detail you provide is awesome. I'm not sure what the sugar-coated candies are called, but let's call them "sugar-coated gummies". :-) Subconsciously, perhaps, the intertwined braids have something to do with binding a friendship when we give a gift. Thanks for sharing, Lissa.

    1. your idea about the braids is great! the original drawing has no gifts and it was more of sister binding but here is friendship binding which makes so much more sense. now if anyone ask why the entwined braids I can tell them this. thank you!

hope you have a lovely day.

    2. I just thought of the name for the candies - gumdrops - I believe that is the correct term

    3. Glad you liked the "friendship binding" and that's right. Those candies are indeed gumdrops. Yay!

    1. the gifts are the main point here so I think something sweet is necessary so the candy jar.

  10. This is wonderful symmetry, and fantastic use of complementary colors! I like how their reddish hair vibrates against the beautiful blue of their outfits. And the gifts are amazing!

    1. actually, I didn't even think of symmetry when I was drawing this but you're right about that. I wanted to go with black for the hair but then it seems to look kind of too somber as I wanted something happy, so red it is.

thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day.

    2. Red does work well for the blue background so glad you went with redheads here. I love the allure of this piece. It can say so many different things. Another thought provoking piece, Lissa. Well done! And what an amazing interpretation for gifting. Very novel indeed. Love it. Thank you.

  12. Lissa,
Lovely painting. I like the way you encircle each other with the braids. It shows a circle of love with the gifts in each hand.
